Step 1: Select Your Sustainability Program
Pick the sustainability program that you would like to participate in.
FSC currently partners with the eCommerce sustainability programs below. Each one has its own scope, marketplaces, and potential additional requirements you would need to meet.
FSC has been participating in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) program since it was launched in 2020 and remains the only certification system focusing exclusively on forest products. The program is live in 14 local Amazon marketplaces including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom
Products included in CPF drive the following benefits:
- A +12% sales lift on average within the first year of joining the program
- +130% increase on average in Product Page Views year on year,
- +23% on average customer switches year on year through 18 discovery features, advertising & marketing activations, and B2B features.

As part of FSC's initiative to increase the visibility of FSC-certified products in eCommerce, we are developing new retailer partnerships - details will appear here as they are confirmed.
Step 2: Check if you meet the FSC core + program-specific requirements
Eligibility comes in two layers. First, FSC's core requirements apply to every program. Then, each retailer adds their own additional rules. You must satisfy both layers to participate your products.
- Hold your own valid Chain of Custody Certification or Promotional Licence
- Supplier or manufacturer details cannot be used. Not yet certified? Contact the office where your headquarters are located here and they will guide you through the process.
- Products must be finished and carry an FSC label
- Clients who order your products must receive them with the FSC label.
- The main product must be FSC-certified
- Non-certified products encased in FSC-Certified packaging are not eligible.
- You must sell the products directly yourself, under a brand you own, and the listings must already be live.
- Listings shall not be misleading as to the scope of certification and shall clearly identify the certified component where it forms a minor or visually indistinct part of the product. All use of the FSC trademarks in the listing shall comply with the participant's Promotional Licence Agreement or with FSC-STD-50-001, which governs the use of the FSC® trademarks by Certificate Holders.
- Excluded Lists
- The products must not be under the Excluded List Category that is pre-determined by Amazon. There are two lists, the FSC-Specific and the Program-wide. The FSC-Specific list is available in the documentation below and the program-wide list can be found here.
- FSC-Certified Fabric
- Fabric products cannot obtain the CPF Badge solely from being FSC-Certified. They must meet Plant-Based Fiber Blended certification requirements to be eligible.
- Beauty Wipes and Surface Cleaning Wipes
- Beauty wipes and surface cleaning wipes are not eligible for the CPF badge
- Component Eligibility
- FSC-certified products must be at least 50% certified material, by weight, to be eligible for the CPF program based on the FSC certification alone. For any questions about these requirements, please contact your primary Amazon point of contact (i.e. Vendor Manager, Global Vendor Manager, or Customer Success Manager).
Step 3: Set up your FSC-Certified Products Portal Account
Once you have determined that your company and your products are eligible, the following steps show you how to setup your account in the FSC®-Certified Products Portal, which allows users to add and delete only FSC Certified Products to their chosen sustainability program(s).
To gain access to the portal, you need to be registered in the FSC Connect ecosystem. Follow the workflow below to find out which steps apply to you.
Do you already have an FSC Connect account? (i.e. you have registered at a page that looks like the screenshot above)
Step 3.1: Set up your FSC-Certified Products Portal Account
Do you know now if you have a connect account? Follow the steps below accordingly.
Please also note that as of 07 September 2026, access to the portal will only be granted through the process described below. The registration form on the portal will remain visible until 31 December 2026 - during this transition period, but please do not use it - applications submitted through the form will no longer be processed after the implementation date. The form will be fully removed by the end of the year.
- You can skip the registration process. Simply contact us at ecommerce@fsc.org using the email format included in the third section and we can directly give you access to the portal using your existing registered email address.
Afterwards, this is the process that will happen:
- FSC International provides portal access.
- You receive an automatic notification - activate your account and log in to the FSC-Certified Products Portal.
- You would need to ask your Certification Body (CB) or Trademark Service Provider (TSP) to create a contact for you.
Follow this checklist:
- If you are a Chain of Custody Certificate Holder (CH) contact your Certification Body (CB) and if you are a Promotional Licence Holder, contact your Trademark Service Provider (TSP). Ask them to create a contact for you in Salesforce. Your CB or TSP is already familiar with this process.
- Your CB or TSP creates your contact account in Salesforce.
- Inform FSC eCommerce team via ecommerce@fsc.org once your CB or TSP confirms the contact has been created. Please use the email format included in the third section.

Step 5: Wait for Your Products To Be Highlighted
After FSC approval, your product data is transmitted. The retailer then highlights your product listing.
What happens automatically
- FSC reviews your products (5 working days)
- If approved, FSC transmits your approved product data.
- If applicable, retailers apply their own internal checks to determine eligibility for their own requirements.
- Your products are highlighted in the sustainability program – timelines vary per retailer:
- Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly – 8-10 working days after FSC approval
Certificate Holders with a functional Product Management System can skip manual uploads and submit products via the FSC API. Requires GTINs and a valid GLN.
What is the Annual Product Review and How Should I Do It?
- The annual product review is a yearly check that confirms your listed products are still valid. One year after a product is approved, FSC's eCommerce team emails you a reminder, and you have 30 days to complete the review.
- There is an upcoming update in the portal where the review cycle can be adjusted depending on submission quality and risk (e.g. you would only have to review products every 2-3 years).
- Follow the steps below on how you can complete it:
Day 0 - Annual reminder email
You will receive an email from the FSC eCommerce team after your products have turned 1 year old.
Within 30 days - Review Your Products in the Portal
Log in to the portal, review each active product, and confirm it still meets the eligibility requirements. Update any product details that have changed (e.g. label, certification number, GTIN).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
ELIGIBILITY FOR RETAILER SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMS
-
Can I use my supplier’s or manufacturer’s FSC certificate to participate in eCommerce Sustainability Programs?
- No. You cannot use a supplier’s certificate to enroll or to highlight your products. You must hold your own FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certification or Promotional Licence (PLH).This is because FSC trademarks would be displayed on the product pages linked to your seller account. To use these trademarks, your company must hold a valid certification or licence itself, in accordance with FSC trademark usage rules.
- If you wish to become certified, please reach out to the FSC National Office for the country where your company is headquartered (find your local office here). They will guide you on the requirements, qualifications, and costs.
-
My product only has FSC-certified packaging - is it eligible?
- No. FSC-certified packaging is not currently eligible for the CPF program - the main product itself must be FSC-certified. The reasons for excluding FSC-certified packaging are:
- Packaging products are more complex than other categories (primary packaging, secondary packaging, etc.).
- We need to make sure consumers receive accurate messaging about which part of a product is actually certified.
- No. FSC-certified packaging is not currently eligible for the CPF program - the main product itself must be FSC-certified. The reasons for excluding FSC-certified packaging are:
-
My product contains an FSC-certified secondary component. Can it still qualify?
- The listing should only keep in mind the following requirement: Listings shall not be misleading as to the scope of certification and shall clearly identify the certified component where it forms a minor or visually indistinct part of the product. All use of the FSC trademarks in the listing shall comply with FSC-STD-50-001 or the participant's promotional licence agreement
- However please once again note that each partner retailer applies its own criteria, so a product that qualifies under FSC rules may still be rejected by a particular retailer. Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly, for example, requires that at least 50 percent of a product's material by weight is certified.
REGISTRATION AND FSC-CERTIFIED PRODUCTS PORTAL ACCESS
-
Can more than one person from my company access the portal under one licence code?
- If there is a business need, more than person can access the portal. However, we may also reach out to understand the reason for multiple contact access and recommend consolidating all your submissions through one representative account.
-
My CB/TSP has created a contact for me and I was approved access - how do I actually log in to the portal?
- You should receive a separate email titled “Activate your FSC Certified Products Portal Account” containing an activation link (please check your spam and junk folders). That link lets you set your password. Once set, log in with your email address at certified-products.fsc.org/web.
- If you have not received the activation link, please contact connect@fsc.org.
TIMELINES AND UPLOADING PRODUCTS TO THE FSC-CERTIFIED PRODUCTS PORTAL
-
What product identifiers does the portal accept?
- The portal accepts ASINs and GTINs (including EANs, UPCs, and JANs). Please note that from February 2027, GTINs, EANs, UPCs, and JANs will be the only accepted product identifiers.
-
How long does product review and badging take?
- Certificate Holders: review takes up to 5 working days (please note that this may be extended depending on demand or holiday periods)
- Promotional Licence Holders: submissions are reviewed by your Trademark Service Provider.
After approval, the badge should appear on your listings depending on the timeline set by participating retailers.
LABELLING REQUIREMENT FOR SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM PARTICIPATION
-
Why do my products need an FSC label, and what if I’m a Certificate Holder who doesn’t usually label?
- A finished, labelled product is a core eligibility requirement. When a customer orders your product through the sustainability program that you participated in, they must receive it with the FSC label as approved by your Certification Body (CB).
-
How do I label my products?
- Even if you do not normally label products as a Certificate Holder, labelling is mandatory when selling through CPF. The process is:
- Ask your CB to approve the FSC trademark usage on your label. Every label used must be approved.
- Label every product you intend to sell in the CPF program. The content and placement of the label must match what your CB approved - do not label just one product to pass review.
- Please kindly refer to the standard here: FSC-STD-50-001
- Please send only real products that are actually for sale - not fake, sample, or test items. Suspicious labels are referred to your Certification Body and may result in your submission being removed or, in the worst case, your portal access being revoked.
- Even if you do not normally label products as a Certificate Holder, labelling is mandatory when selling through CPF. The process is:
-
What should my sample label photos look like?
- The image must show the actual product and/or the product in its packaging. Do not use packaging models or label artwork.
- The label should be clear and easy to read.
- Each product image must be different and must match the listed product - do not reuse the same image for multiple products.
Please make sure all your labels are properly approved by your Certification Body, or that you have an authorized trademark use management system in place. Cases of misuse are reported.
-
What is an “email from my Certification Body,” and why do you need it?
- Your label use must be approved by your Certification Body. The “email from your CB” is the message confirming that approval. It serves as proof that your FSC label has been authorized.
