This standard specifies the requirements for FSC chain of custody (CoC) certification of projects. For the purposes of this standard a project is defined as the production or renovation of a construction or civil engineering project (e.g. an office building, a condominium of houses, event infrastructure such as concert stages, stand in a trade fair, timber bridge), individual art or decorative object (e.g. sculpture), or transport vehicle (e.g. maritime vessels) that is made of or contains forest-based materials.

Controlled forest management respects and upholds legality and customary and human rights, including The ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. It also maintains or enhances social, cultural, environmental, and High Conservation Values (HCV) of the forests and prevents deforestation and degradation - and is free of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

This module is for voluntary use by organizations applying for or holding FSC certification to extend their certification scope in order to align with the Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 or “EUDR”. The FSC Regulatory Module empowers users to navigate the regulatory landscape effectively, supporting both legal compliance and sustainability best practices. The FSC Regulatory Module sets the framework and requirements to: introduce a due diligence system to support EUDR compliance, including information collection, risk assessment and risk mitigation, gather and transmit precise information on the origin of products, including geolocation and time of production, and ensure that only deforestation-free material enters the FSC chain of custody.
