The objective of this procedure is to establish the general principles regarding the participation of external observers in on-site FSC certification audits (hereinafter ‘audits') and/ or in ASI accreditation assessments (hereinafter ‘assessments'). The objective of this document is to provide a transparent procedure for receiving, evaluating and deciding on appeals against decisions taken by FSC (this does not include accreditation decisions). This document details the procedure to be followed by FSC and the Appellant in the event of an appeal lodged against FSC. The Continuous Improvement Procedure offers a flexible way for The Organization managing small or low intensity managed forest (SLIMF) or community forests, within or outside a group, to access FSC forest management certification, by conforming to the applicable FSC standard progressively throughout the first certification cycle comprised of five (5) years or, in case of group members, the first 5 years of the group membership.
