New interpretation on Implementing Controlled Wood Chain of Custody Accreditation Scope

FSC has published a new interpretation related to the FSC Controlled Wood (CW) Chain of Custody (CoC), INT-STD-20-001_51 (refer to page 29), to provide clarifications on the following points: 

a) Whether a CB is required to have access to Forest Management (FM) auditors when its CW clients do not require audits at the forest management unit level; and 

b) Whether a CB can qualify and maintain the qualification of FM auditors in accordance with Annex 2, Table 2 of FSC-STD-20-001, in cases where audits at the FM unit level are required. 

CBs are requested to refer to the FAQ document attached to this email, which addresses questions related to the implementation of CW requirements and the inclusion of CW within the CB’s CoC accreditation scope. 

This interpretation aims to ensure consistent understanding and application of the requirements across CBs.
