The FSC International Center has been asked to provide guidance on several cases in which: A There are impacts on a forest management area which are beyond the full control of the forest managers, or B There are parts of a forest management area for which the management objectives do not meet the requirements for certification, but the managers wish to seek certification for the remaining areas.

It defines six unacceptable activities that associated individuals and organizations and their corporate group commit to avoid in both certified and non-certified operations. The Policy for Association serves as a risk management tool for FSC, protecting the credibility and reputation of the FSC brand and organizations associated with it.
This addendum lists temporary derogations for the use of pesticides that are considered by FSC to be ‘highly hazardous'. These derogations have been individually approved by the FSC Pesticides Committee on behalf of the FSC Board of Directors. Derogations have been approved only when all the requirements of the Pesticides Derogation Procedure were met. They include strict conditions to be fulfilled by the certificate holders during the derogation period. Derogations are approved for the smallest applicable geographical scope. The derogations listed below are not valid for national use. The rationale for establishing such a list is to provide an overview of derogations used at global level.
