FSC has published a Derogation (DER-STD-NZL-02.1-2023) that is specifically applicable only for Lindsay & Dixon Limited in New Zealand to enable the continuation of their certification.
According to this derogation, the above-mentioned certificate holder will be able to maintain their certification under the FSC National Forest Stewardship Standard (FSC-STD-NZL-02.1-2023) once the applicable requirements and additional conditions provided in this derogation are fulfilled, between 1 January to 31 December 2026.
The scope of the FSC Forest Stewardship Standard for New Zealand (FSC-STD-NZL-02.1-2023) does not include natural forests. However, the above-mentioned certificate holder operates in a natural forest and has been certified since 2004 against the CB standards based on the Principle & Criteria (P&C) standard version 4 (V4). From 1 January 2026, CB standards based on P&C V4 will become invalid. This derogation serves as a transitional solution while long-term certification options are developed for such cases.
You may refer to the derogation document for more details, which is attached to this email.
