Strengthening Capacity for Forest-Based Livelihoods

The Timber Training Program and Volume Aggregator Tool are tailored to help community and family forest producers, especially those in tropical regions, enhance the value of their timber operations while supporting sustainable forest management.

Developed to respond directly to the needs of producers, these tools offer practical training and market-oriented solutions that bridge the gap between forest potential and real-world demand.

Timber Training Program

Developed in collaboration with Precious Woods, this program transfers a proven FSC-certified forest management model directly to local producers. The training covers the entire timber value chain, from harvesting and processing to market alignment, enabling producers to improve operational practices and meet buyer expectations.

Volume Aggregator Tool

In tropical forests, producers often face a mismatch between their diverse but small timber yields and market demands for larger, uniform volumes. The Volume Aggregator Tool helps address this by:

  • Pooling timber volumes from multiple producers
  • Focusing on lesser-known species
  • Facilitating collective negotiations with buyers

By strengthening coordination and increasing supply reliability, the tool helps reduce transaction costs, increase visibility to FSC-certified markets, and unlock higher profitability.
