In November 2023, Mighty Earth submitted a complaint to FSC against two organizations belonging to the Alas Kusuma group in Indonesia – PT Mayawana Persada and PT Kusuma Alam Sari. The alleged unacceptable activities mentioned in the complaint are:
The alleged unacceptable activities occurred in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
According to the complaint, there is evidence for alleged unacceptable activities since 2016, and they continue to take place even in 2023. Hence, FSC will be processing this case according to the provisions of FSC Policy for Association, version 2 and version 3.
The Alas Kusuma group is associated with FSC through two organizations in its group that are FSC certified.
As the next step in the process, FSC approached the parties to explore whether a resolution was possible through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) measures. However, the ADR process was determined to have limited feasibility. FSC is currently exploring further investigations and gathering more evidence.
