- FSC-STD-01-001 V5-3: The FSC Principles and Criteria for Forest Stewardship are the essential rules or elements of environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management, and the Criteria provide the means of judging whether or not a Principle has been fulfilled. They are the foundation of the FSC certification scheme.
- FSC-STD-60-004 V2-1: The International Generic Indicators are a set of indicators that address each normative element of each Criterion in the FSC Principles & Criteria (Version 5-3). They are the common starting point for the development and transfer of all Regional and National Forest Stewardship Standards in the FSC system, including Interim National Standards.
- FSC-POL-10-004 V1-0: This document clarifies the scope of application of FSC Principles and Criteria for Forest Stewardship (FSC-STD-01-001) that includes natural forests, plantations and other (i.e. non-forest) vegetation types.
- FSC-POL-20-003 V1-0: This document was developed to provide a mechanism to “excise” or remove a defined area or areas from the scope of FSC certification.
- FSC-DIR-20-007 Vn/a: The objective of this document is to standardize understanding and implementation of the requirements by certification bodies and certificate holders.
The objectives of revising the normative documents listed above are to strengthen FSC's certification framework and ensure that forest management practices remain sustainable, equitable, and adaptable to both current and evolving environmental, social, and economic challenges.
