It is not possible to involve all stakeholders in every forest evaluation. It is therefore essential that forest certification and its results should be open to public scrutiny. This is the only way to demonstrate to all interested or affected parties that the certification decisions are justified and acceptable. It is a basic requirement of the FSC scheme that certification bodies make a summary report of each certified forest operation publicly available.

FSC Standard for Project Certification

This standard specifies the requirements for FSC chain of custody (CoC) certification of projects. For the purposes of this standard a project is defined as the production or renovation of a construction or civil engineering project (e.g. an office building, a condominium of houses, event infrastructure such as concert stages, stand in a trade fair, timber bridge), individual art or decorative object (e.g. sculpture), or transport vehicle (e.g. maritime vessels) that is made of or contains forest-based materials.

Standard Operating Procedure for pilot testing of FSC-STD-RAP-01-2020 V-1, FSC Regional Forest Stewardship Standard for Smallholders, PART II – Pilot Test Implementation

Purpose

The SOP Part II for Pilot Implementation describes the rules and requirements for successful pilot participation by all parties in its chronological order. Related to the SOP are the respective forest stewardship standards, including the regional standard and the nationally adapted standards for India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam as it follows:

  1. FSC-STD-RAP-01-2021 V-1, The FSC Regional Forest Stewardship Standard for Smallholders,
  2. FSC-STD-RAP-IND-01-2022 Plantations, The FSC Forest Stewardship Standard for Smallholders in India,
  3. FSC-STD-RAP-IDN-01-2022 Plantations, The FSC Forest Stewardship Standard for Smallholders in Indonesia,
  4. FSC-STD-RAP-VNM-01-2022 Plantations, The FSC Forest Stewardship Standard for Smallholders in Vietnam
Process Objectives

The objectives of the pilot test are, to give evidence on:

  1. The consistency of the nationally adapted APAC RFSS with the FSC Principles and Criteria.
  2. The improved accessibility to FSC certification by its target user group, small management units below 20 hectares.
